Artist's Bio

I have created art of some description since I could first hold a stick to draw in the dirt as a child. My vocational and professional background as an artist began with an undergraduate degree in graphic design. After a few years of working as a graphic designer, I returned to school and earned a Masters of Fine Arts in drawing and painting. Naturally I became a sculptor. 

My work spans a wide range of media and my true love is creating artwork which has a breath of familiarity in its final shape or in the individual elements of which it is comprised. "Odds and ends" is often the best way to describe what I use when finding inspiration to make art. My favorite overall media to use is metal but I also delight in making things out of plastic, paper, random shapes, and recognizable, ordinary objects. I find the majority of these things in my surroundings at home and during travel, though interesting shapes are also sometimes brought to me by other people - things they might term as “junk.”

I have had the privilege of showing my work in multiple solo, group, and public art exhibitions. My work is a permanent part of multiple public and private art collections. Additionally, my artwork has been featured on the sets of several television shows and movies. I have served as a repeat juror for several annual art competitions including the Central Texas Art Competition, the Texas Region V high school art competition, and the i3 art competition in Bossier City, LA. I have also created and installed (or helped install) large public outdoor sculptures in Wichita Falls, TX, St. George, UT, Shreveport, Louisiana, Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Nacogdoches, Texas among others.
